Mary Alice's House - A Sober Living Environment

In January 2002, Mary Alice's House, a Sober Living Environment for Men was established as a 12-step recovery program in Lima, Ohio.  Since then, Mary Alice's House has expanded their program to include women.  Its new facilities are located at 543 and 549 W. Wlm Street in Lima, Ohio and will accomodate 25 - 30 men and 20-25 women.  Although housed in separate buildings, both male and female residents share a commitment to developing a drug-free lifestyle.

Residents live in our facilities for a period of 6 to 12 months as they gain the tools necessary to sustain long-term sobriety.  We provide a family atmosphere with home-cooked meals and recreational activities in a structured, safe environment, while stressing the importance of 12-Step program involvement, sponsorship and fellowship.

Mary Alice's House is operated by Mr. Bruce Monford who, like his staff, recognizes the importance of having a sober environment in which to recover from addiction.

Mary Alice's House promotes a positive and harmonious atmosphere for continuity care.  Restoring self-esteem, self-worth, and confidence with the residents based upon the 12 Step programs of recovery is our purpose.

Our Approach

The approach is simple: help individuals recognize the consequences of using any mood-altering substance and give them necessary skills and support to achieve a drug-free life.  While the approach is simple, its achievement is not!  We at Mary Alice's House recognize substance abuse as a chronic problem wilth potential for relapse being a dangerous reality.

Risk Reduction is a term that describes our identification of the need for substance abuse programs to provide services that decrease the likelihood of relapse.  By suplying a safe, sober environment for individuals working on recovery, Mary Alice's House seeks to be a factor in risk reduction by providing continuity of care.

Mary Alice's House will continue to be responsible member of the community, utilizing our organizational experience and resources to achieve the goal of maximum recovery for addicted persons.
