 Pastor Monford of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio

     Dr. B. LaMont Monford, Sr., was born August 25, 1966 in Lima, Ohio to Bobby Monford and the late Mary Alice Mosley.  He accepted Christ at an early age.  He did it, in part, to make sense of a chaotic childhood that saw the devel attach his family with drugs and separation.  He soon realized that Christians suffer too.  Only in the aftermath of his mother's brutal murder, and his attempt to deal with it, did a young LaMont Monford learn what it means to be a Christian through hard times.

Rev. Monford graduated from Perry High School in 1984.  He is a graduate of American Baptist College, Nashville, TN: graduate of Winebrenner Theological Seminary, Findlay, OH, where he received his Masters of Divinity Degree; and in 2006 his Doctorate of Ministry Program.

In January 1991, B. LaMont Monford, Sr. became Pastor of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church of Lima, OH where the congregation has grown from 150 to well over 1800 members.  He is a former employe of Lima Fair Housing Association, Lima City School, and Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors.

 In November of 1995 Pastor Monford published his first book, "From Valleys to Victories" which he shares his convictions and experiences from a single parent household surrounded by drugs and tragedy with the hope to inspire people to rise above their circumstances and to become self sufficient and efective in everything.

Doctor onford is the founder and Executive Director of Quest Academy, which began August 30, 2000.  The community schooling concept, commonly known as charter schools in other states, is new in the state of Ohio, and is the first of its kind.  In January 2007, Quest will be breaking ground on a new building that will hold ten new classrooms, a computer room and library.  They have added another grade for the 2006 school year.  They are accepting open enrollment for grades K-7th.

In January 2002 Mary Alice's House (MAH), a Sober Living Environment for Men, was established.  Named after his monther, Pastor Monford felt the need to create an environment where inviduals can continue their recovery from alcohol/drug addiction after completion of a substance abuse program.  In May of 2003, MH expanded their program to include women.  MAH now houses 30 mend and 25 females dedicated to developing a drug-free lifestyle.

Pastor is married to the former Teresa A. Humphries, and has four children, Brian Jr., Brandon, Brianna, and Brandi.
